Reef Subsea has appointed Mark Preece as Chief Executive Officer with effect from 1 July 2010.
Mr Preece, former senior vice-president of business development and marketing at Acergy, will be based at new global headquarters in London.
Reef Subsea AS was established in February 2010 and is a joint venture between GC Rieber Shipping one of Europe's premier offshore vessel operators, and leading energy sector private equity investor HitecVision.
The company owns three subsidiaries offering niche services to the oil, gas and renewables sectors:
-Bluestone Offshore, an international deepwater geotechnical specialist based in Singapore providing services including drilling, sampling and seabed analysis.
-Scanmudring, a subsea dredging and rock dump removal specialist with bases in Norway, Scotland, and Canada, operating worldwide in remote and challenging deepwater locations.
-Technocean, a global subsea inspection, maintenance and repair, survey and light construction specialist based in Bergen and operating two construction support vessels.
Mr. Preece said: "I am joining Reef Subsea at an exciting time. Although it's a new operation, Reef comprises three already well-established and successful companies that complement one another and have performed well in the first quarter of this year."
From our new headquarters in London we will be able to both consolidate and then grow our share of the market to establish Reef as a truly major global subsea operator.
Mr Preece has extensive commercial, operations management and business development experience and has held senior positions at Acergy, Bibby Line, Technip, Coflexip Stena Offshore and Stena Offshore.
He is a master mariner with an MBA from Henley Management College, and before taking on management roles worked offshore as a ship's master.
